“Although the skills aren’t hard to learn, finding the happiness and finding the satisfaction and finding fulfillment in continuously serving somebody else something good to eat, is what makes a really good restaurant.”

Di Plaastoep Restaurant - History in a nutshell..

The restaurant “Di Plaasstoep” was built and established by Hein and Willie Pienaar in 2009 and quickly became a local hotspot for good food and friendly “local” atmosphere.

In 2011 the brothers sold the restaurant to Piet and Alti Dreyer. Piet – a retired police force member and Alti – a local Real Estate agent, saw this as an opportunity to grow this establishment into a booming local tourism attraction, providing good food, drink and a place for the local community to get together as families.

They also expanded into catering for functions such as birthday parties and other celebrations.

The restaurant also served as an ideal “pit stop” for weary travellers, and the restaurant is frequented by groups of bikers and others on their way to the picturesque Lesotho and the Afriski Resort.

Braam & Jana Le Roux - New beginnings...

Braam and Jana Le Roux has taken over Di Plaastoep Restaurant on the 1st of June 2021. Originally from Pretoria, the Le Roux’s having been in the real estate industry since 2005 have decided it’s time to change the hustle and bustle of the big city for the serenity of life in the country.

They settled in Fouriesburg in May 2021 and decided to buy the restaurant and also put Fouriesburg tourism on the map.

Being avid bikers themselves, who love the open road and exploring our beautiful country, they aim to attract people from all over the country to the little town of Fouriesburg, and cater not only for the local community, but also for hungry and weary travelers from all parts of the country.

Braam, Jana, and their family featured in season 1 of KYKNET’s “KWARANTYN” televised on DSTV last year. They were the lucky winners of this “Big Brother” – type series and walked away with the grand prize at the end of the series.

Braam and Jana will strive to make a success of the hospitality industry, and will be providing visitors to Fouriesburg a true country experience, which together with great food, atmosphere and friendly service should provide a memorable time for travelers and locals alike.
